Hiring a Houston DJ FAQ
First of all choosing the right Houston DJ is key! All Houston DJs are NOT created
equal. It is important to ask the right questions when finding the right Houston
DJ:
- Do you use professional audio and light equipment? It is important to verify
they are at least using professional-grade sound gear. Home stereo equipment is
great for the home, but will not stand up to the rigors of the road.
- Do you provide a written contract? All pricing needs to be in the contract
including overages and base fee.
- Do you specialize in a specific type of music? Can you provide other types
of music if requested?
- If the DJ is unavailable for your event can
they refer you to another DJ? This is good etiquette and helps the
business as whole.
- Ask the DJ how long it takes to setup their
equipment. A typical setup time is between 1-2 hours. If the Houston DJ says
they can setup in about 20 minutes this means they do not have that much equipment.
- Houston DJs typically charge between
$500-$3000 for an event lasting 4 hours. DJs sometimes charge more if the
event is outside, or requires a lot of equipment (ie for large events). The price
a houston DJ charges for a 60 person event
will be significantly less than a 200 person event. Also most Houston
DJs will charge more for events on holidays especially
new years eve! Make sure your DJ
has all the charges in the contract. The lowest price is not
always the best deal. Surveys conclude that nearly 100% of
brides would have spent more money on entertainment
and made it their #1 priority in hindsight.
